CWF is sending a delegation the United Nations Climate Conference in Durban, South Africa. We are hosting an exhibit on education in action featuring some of our new Traditional Knowledge videos from Nunavut. These vignettes feature local perspectives on the environment as well as the traditional use of natural resources.

While we are at the climate conference, CWF will also be attending side events on adaptation, mitigation and cross-cutting issues such as water, biodiversity, capacity building, indigenous rights, public awareness-raising and youth engagement. You can follow our team on the ground through our Facebook and Twitter feeds from Nov. 28 – Dec. 3. Following this time, you can tune in with us to the United Nation’s webcasts of government deliberations.

The climate conference, known as COP17 or the 17th Conference of the Parties, will be held from Nov. 28 – Dec. 9 at the Durban International Convention Centre. It is expected that up to 20,000 delegates from around the world will attend, including international leaders and non-governmental observers.

It is critical for CWF to attend this convention to maintain and advance our international advocacy work. Canada’s Arctic region will show the effects of climate change before anywhere else. CWF is helping bring northern perspectives forward to ensure a legacy of healthy wildlife and habitat.

Please join us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.

Sincerely,
