Hello friend of Canadian wildlife,

Eek! Only two days left until Christmas and you don't have a gift for a friend of loved one? Don't fret! We have the perfect gift for you — one that will touch both the giver's and the receiver's hearts.

Give a gift to wildlife this year on behalf of a friend or family member. There are over 500 species at risk in Canada and they need all the help they can get. By giving a gift to wildlife, you not only have the opportunity to conserve the wildlife dear to all our hearts, you get to choose which project you’d like to contribute to.

So please visit our Give a Gift to Wildlife site and think about which way you’d like to support wildlife this holiday season. I’m sure you’ll find the perfect gift for your friends and family, but please allow me to suggest the following:

For the bird watcher:
A gift of $36 will help provide netting and banding equipment for one day of monitoring for the Endangered red knot as it starts its 14,000 km journey south. The Endangered red knot has suffered a 70 per cent decline since 1982. Buy now »

For the water enthusiast:
Seaturtles make long treks across ocean basins and on their journey they encounter fishing line and gear they can get tangled up in and plastic debris they can mistake for food. Your gift of $50 will help researchers survey these majestic creatures in offshore waters. Buy now »

Whales, sharks and sea turtles are at risk of disappearing from Canadian waters. With your gift, CWF will help provide satellite tags to conservation groups that will keep an eye out on these majestic creatures by monitoring migration and habitats of these iconic species to ensure their long term survival. At $3,000 a piece, these satellite tags are not cheap but every dollar you give will help. Buy now »

kids

For your favourite kid:
Support a project to engage economically disadvantaged students in outdoor conservation and education related activities in a camp setting. Or, contribute to a subsidized workshop or course space for an educator who wants to become certified in WILD Education programs, so they in turn can teach more kids about the benefits of wildlife and conservation in Canada. Regardless of which gift you choose, your loved one will be touched that your gift is making a difference to the wildlife they hold dear.

On behalf of Canadian wildlife and the Canadian Wildlife Federation, I’d like to wish you a very happy holiday.

Sincerely,
