This will be a monumental year for the Canadian Wildlife Federation. As we usher in 2012 we will be launching our 50th Anniversary — a year-long celebration aimed to inspire our supporters and shine a spotlight on Canadian spaces and species.

Fifty years ago a small group of dedicated conservationists realized they could accomplish more for wildlife and the environment together than on their own. The result was CWF. We have grown tremendously since then, but we remain true to our founding principles. It is wildlife and the Canadian landscape that has profited from the simple beliefs that every action counts and wildlife deserves a voice.

This New Year’s as you take stock of 2011 and look ahead to 2012, I hope your plans and goals continue to include wildlife. Our work for wildlife is entirely thanks to you and your fellow Canadians who choose to make a difference for the future of Canadian habitat and endangered species. We value every phone call, email and letter that comes our way, knowing that you hold conservation very near and dear to your heart.

CWF remains a vital organization with a mission and purpose that is even more relevant today than ever before. This year, as we mark its bi-centennial, we will honour its past and look ahead to ensure healthy species and spaces for future generations of Canadians. In 2012, CWF will continue to advance our mission by increasing the impact and reach of our education programs and research funding. We’ll have more ways for you to get involved and take action in your own communities and we will be launching new partnerships to reach and help more species than ever before.

There’s a lot of work to be done, please help us to make 2012, our Golden Anniversary, more than just a milestone. Together let’s make it memorable for tremendous achievements.

We are urging everyone to increase their awareness about Canadian species and the environment and what you can do to help. Whether you participate in a Walk for Wildlife, Rivers to Oceans Week, CWF’s Anniversary Challenge or support our funding programs you are supporting one of our most precious resources, wildlife.
