Supported by the Canadian Wildlife Federation, OAR Northwest — North America’s most famous ocean rowing team — will complete an arduous expedition of the Salish Sea around Vancouver Island this April. The expedition will feature streaming video and blog entries and promote the need to get young people outdoors—just in time for the launch of the 2012 CWF Get to Know Contest. The contest aims to inspire youth to get outdoors, get active, and “get to know” their neighbours of other species. For contest details, including how to enter, please visit GettoKnow.ca. Walk for wildlife is an opportunity for all Canadians to celebrate National Wildlife Week (April 8-14) and show just how far they will go for wildlife. The Canadian Wildlife Federation is encouraging people to take a walk outdoors and experience the wildlife and natural spaces in their region. Back at home, they can visit WalkforWildlife.ca to log their kilometres in our nationwide tally. 2012 marks the CWF’s 50th Anniversary, and, during this year’s Walk for Wildlife, we will be showcasing some of the wildlife that CWF has helped over the past 50 years. The goal of Walk for Wildlife is to log 19,620 km across the country, creating national awareness about Canadian habitats and the wildlife that calls them home. CWF will be counting kilometres until May 22nd, the International Day for Biodiversity.
CWF is hosting a summer course in Nunavut July 21-28. Please sign up if you would like to receive more information on this program for educators. The non-credit course fee will be $1,500, which includes shared dormitory style accommodation as well as selected meals. Sincerely,
