Paul Nicklen’s Top Five Tips for Photographers
- Shoot stories as they are much more rewarding.
- Make pictures; don't just take pictures. Visualize the pictures you want to make.
- Don't copy other people’s work. It’s much more rewarding to forge new ground, especially in conservation.
- Spend time in the field—the more time the better—and learn to be uncomfortable in the elements.
- Photograph in your backyard. There are great images and stories to be had all around you.
