Hello friend of Canadian wildlife,

christmas cards 2009 200

We recently sent out our specially designed wildlife Christmas cards for you and your loved ones. In addition to helping spread holiday cheer, these cards send the message that you care about Canadian wildlife and wild places. If you have not received the cards and you would like to, please contact our office to have them sent to you or send them as an e-card.

We know our supporters are committed to ensuring there is a place for wildlife and natural areas for future generations of Canadians. But as winter approaches, it is easy to forget about the struggles that wildlife face as we hibernate safely inside. We hope that you will still take a moment to remember that:

  • Approximately 75 per cent of Canada’s reptiles are listed as being of special concern or higher.
  • The International Union for the Conservation of Nature recently confirmed that 12 per cent of the world’s birds are at risk.
  • Approximately 10 per cent of marine mammals (e.g. whales, porpoises, etc.) are ranked as at risk by Canadian standards.
  • Sadly, we could go on and on.

We at Canadian Wildlife Federation are proud to be part of the solution. You can also be part of the solution to the many challenges facing our environment through a contribution to CWF. Representing over 300,000 members, CWF is one of Canada’s largest non-profit, non-government conservation organizations. Our programs help protect Canada’s wilderness areas, waterways and support wildlife projects across the country.

Please also take a minute and forward this e-mail to your friends and family so they too can share and enjoy the cards. For many of us, the holidays are a time of joy, warmth and comfort. I hope that the Christmas cards we have created will help to remind you and yours to do your part in conserving Canada’s precious wildlife.

Sincerely,
